These fights are quite something - you have never seen anything like that before!

WHO ARE THE BLACK SEA AMAZONS:

They are about 30 women who love to fight. They just fight for the fun of it. These are no street girls nor any runaway girls who just want to make some easy money. These are all educated women, very well trained in martial arts or competitive boxing, thai boxing or kickboxing or wrestling. They just have fun to measure themselves in those ultimate fight competitions. One could not have such fantastic fights when the competitors are not well trained sports(wo)men. This kind of extreme fighting is for well trained individuals only!

This true fighting women meet for many years before to held their private tournaments without the presence of video-cameras or men. Now, for the first time ever they allowed us to film their private events, believe us, it took a lot of pursuasion. Most of these women are university or college graduates, two of them are studying to become lawyers, the one on top on the top picture of this page has nearly finished her study and will become a high school philology teacher soon. (oh, would I like to be a school boy again if I had any chance to have such a teacher ....).

Certainly these women know exactly why they like to fight and why they want to be self reliant.

Won't she be a nice philology teacher later?

(It's the girl in red, Lessja! - actually - without saying too much - she's also the second best fighter of the all BSA women - she's a Thai boxer)

FORMAT of the fights:

A fight takes place over 20 minutes of fight time. A fighter achieves a victory by winning more submissions (making her opponent give up - communicated by the word "stop" or a loud, obvious rap on the mat), or by a k.o. or t.k.o. After every submission there is a break of one minute. A knockout is declared when one fighter is unable to stand up again for ten seconds after the referee has seperated the fighters or if a woman gives up the entire fight which can be done at any time during the match, or if the referee or the coach enters a t.k.o, indipendently of previous numbers of submissions won or lost.

If after 20 minutes total fight time there is a draw, most fights will continue until the first submission.

The referee may also stop the fight and declare a winner by technical knockout if one girl is unable to continue because of injury or insufficient consciousness.

These are extremely fierce fights, however, there is no violence at all as any of the fighter can give up the match whenever she wants. There is also a referee who cares for the rules and for the safety of the contenders.

BSA -EXTREME FIGHTING RULES

Generally the rules are a mixture of Thai boxing, kickboxing, boxing, wrestling and judo rules.

The following is allowed:

1) punches with the fist and kicks with feet to head and body

2) kicks with the knee to the body only

3) slapping and hairpulling

4) any wrestling or judo holds except where prohibited (see below)

The following are not allowed:

1) punches or kicks to the neck, throat, rear of the head or genital area

2) kicks with the knee to any part of the head

3) punches to the head when the opponent is on the mat and her head is unable to move directly backwards from the direction of the punch, such as straight punches to the face when backward movement is prevented by the mat or the aggressor's arm.

4) choking or any means preventing the opponent from breathing

5) biting and scratching

Lessja in action - she will become one of your favorites - we are sure, though that there is another girl who is just too good for her (but we don't want to tell you too much).

The blonde girl below is Svetlana. She's not the best of the BSA-fighters, but she's very pretty, very clever and extremely ambitious in the ring. Below you can read an interview with Svetlana, just recorded a few weeks ago.

I am Svetlana, I am 19 years old.

What is your occupation? I am a book keeper.

What is your sports? Basketball, athletics and Thai boxing.

Why did you decide to take part in the BSA tournaments? I wanted to see how good I was. It's so completely different from other competitions. It makes me more confident.

Why did you start learning Thai boxing? It gives me self reliance.

What's your hobby? I like to read serious literature (psychology and classics). And I like to listen classical music, and I like to sing. And I have a dog.

What are you going to do in the future? I would like to get higher education in economics and maybe I can work as a manager later.
